It's possible to display a combination of actual and forecasted data in a report, but it will depend on the type of forecast you're referencing in the report.
1 year P&L
With a 1 year P&L forecast, data will display for any of the forecasted months, but won't display for months outside those 12 months.
EXAMPLE: The screenshot below shows a 1 year P&L forecast starting in October 2024. August and September 2024 are blank, as well as October and November 2025, as these months fall outside the 12 month forecast range.
3 year cash flow
What data displays will depend on when the forecast is set to display actual data until. By updating the actual/forecast crossover in the forecast, it will also change which periods on a report display actual data, and which display forecasted data.
EXAMPLE: The screenshot below shows a 3 year cash flow forecast - in this forecast type you can set where actual data shows until, then where forecasted data shows from.
In this example, the current month is October 2024, but the forecast is set to show forecasted data from January 2025. You can see August, September and October 2024 have actual data, whilst November and December 2024 show zeros (as no actual data is yet recorded). All actual data is shaded, forecasted data is then not shaded.
3 year cash flow forecasts start in the current month and will run for 3 full financial years. In this example, those 3 years end in 2028. April and May 2028 are in the following financial year, so show blank.
3 year cash flow with due invoices
A 3 year cash flow with due invoices forecast will always display actual data until yesterday, then forecasted data from today. Therefore, on a report, any actual periods will display actual data, and any future periods will display forecasted data.
The example below shows a 3 year cash flow with due invoices forecast - this forecast type will always display actual data until yesterday, then forecasted data from today.
In this example, the current month is October, so the completed months of August and September 2024 are showing actual data and are shaded. Once October completes, it will also show shaded.
3 year cash flow forecasts run for 3 full financial years. In this example, those 3 years end in 2028. April and May 2028 are in the following financial year, so show blank.
πNOTE: If the forecast type you have used doesn't give you the reporting options you need, it's possible to create a new forecast and bring over the predictions from another existing forecast.
