When you build your report, you can use pre-built Community Widgets to display data in a report.
You can't edit these pre-built widgets, however, you can use the Builder tool to create widgets that you can edit.
Step 1 - Create a custom widget
After you create a report, to the right are options you can use to add information. One of these is Builder.
Different types of charts tables or scorecards appear to choose from.
Select the widget you want to use, then drag and drop it into the report. Reposition and resize as required.
Step 2 - Name the widget
Click the widget itself to add a title and sub-title.
📎NOTE: If you want to leave either or both blank, the exported report will have a blank space. It won't show the 'Title will appear here' message you see before adding a title.
Step 3 - Add datasets
Datasets are the source of data you're reporting on; actual data, prior year actuals, or any published forecast in the organisation.
Click the widget on the report. On the Datasets dropdown, select Actual data and/or Prior year actuals. This determines the data you can choose from for your axis/rows/columns/values in the chart.
📌TIP: See how to use different datasets to compare your data.
Step 4 - Select your date range
Select the data range you want to report on, for example, this financial year, yesterday, a specific week last year, etc.
Next, select whether you want to also report on the prior or next periods. The periods are relative to the data range type you select.
EXAMPLE: Report on this quarter and the prior 3 periods.
These options show data in the widget from this quarter and the previous three quarters.
Step 5 - Choose your data
Next, choose which data you want to report on. Depending on the type of chart you insert into your report, this will show against your axis', rows, columns, or values.
On, for example, the Axis 1 tab, click Choose data.
📌TIP: Alternatively, click Create formula to make a formula that calculates the data that will show.
On the pop-up, select the data you want to include in the chart.
You have three data types to choose from:Click Save to save these changes.
📌TIP: Use the second Axis/ column if you need to use multiple data forms. For example, to look at gross profit and gross profit %.
See how you can use the column to compare data in a table.
Step 6 - Customise how the chart, table, or scorecard looks
If required, you can edit the default settings of your Axis/Row/Column/Value. For example, you can adjust the Axis to auto-scale, what units will appear for the data, such as currency, percentage, or just a number.
You can also move the order the data you selected appears in, and click Branding to adjust the colours used in the chart.
After you complete all fields, your report automatically updates.
